TreatMe, the ClassPass of Beauty

In a world of ClassPass and Uber and Postmates and Fitspot (the list goes on), it’s no wonder some brilliant human came up with TreatMe. I was introduced to it through a Facebook group that I belong to that includes approximately 18,000 women in the Los Angeles area. From reading about break ups to seeing the funniest new memes, there’s always entertainment to be had in this group.

Thankfully, I happened to be scrolling my feed when a girl asked if anyone was interested in unlimited blowouts and manicures. Wait, WHAT? Duh!

TreatMe is a brand new platform that offers unlimited monthly manicures for $49, blowouts for $99, or both for $135.

Another Year Down

This weekend I celebrated my birthday, not to be confused with my blog-anniversary that I celebrated in October. Birthdays are always a time of reflection and mine falls right before the new year, making it the most ideal time to look back at what I have accomplished (or still need to) and figure out what I want for myself in the upcoming year.

Since being in Los Angeles for about 18 months, a lot has happened. I’ve started this blog as an outlet for my fitness obsession, gotten engaged and married, and made new friends (thankfully so many that share my love for working out).

To ring in year 27, I decided to throw the sweatiest birthday party I could think of, so naturally, a spin class was my first choice. SoloCicla, the gorgeous new studio in Studio City was the ideal location. Not only is it easy to get to (right off of the 101), but also there’s a plethora of free parking, free shoes, and free alkaline water!

From cryotherapy to sweat sessions, I am on a path to trying all of the unique offerings in the Los Angeles wellness scene. While some are meant to detox, lose weight, or soothe sore muscles, my most recent escapade promotes mindfulness and relieves stress. Isolation tanks are soundproof, dark sensory deprivation tanks where people float in salt water at skin temperature in order to meditate and relax. These sessions have been shown to improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

Soul Cycle with Sweat & Repeat

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re enjoying a day off and time with family and friends…maybe an extra helping of green bean casserole, too. Don’t worry, you have every other day of the year to push your body at a workout (but bonus points if you got your sweat on pre turkey binging!).

In the spirit of thankfulness, I wanted to bring you a little event recap and show my appreciation for my blog readers who supported me this week! Last Sunday I hosted my second Sweat and Repeat event at Soul Cycle Hollywood. I posted the invite on Instagram and ended up with an outpour of interest that quickly filled the guest and wait lists!

Healthy Zucchini Nachos

Nachos are one of my favorite bar-foods. They’re delicious and so easy…I just wish they were healthier. Well, in this recipe, I’ve swapped the tortilla chips for thinly sliced zucchini in order to get some veggies in and decrease the calorie count. Enjoy!

IMG_2205You’ll Need

3 medium zucchinis
Cheese—I used Mexican blend
Black beans, rinsed and drained
Rotisserie chicken (or any precooked protein)
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
2 avocados
Lime

Preheat oven to 400.

Rinse and dry zucchini. Slice into chips.

Toss zucchini with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Place zucchini on a pan lined with foil. Do not overlap.

Cook for 35 minutes, flipping over halfway through if you’re feeling adventurous—I wasn’t.

While zucchini is cooking, prep the toppings. I used cheese, black beans, and rotisserie chicken but feel free to add anything else that inspires you (onions, corn, salsa).

Deseed the avocados and smash with lime juice, salt, and pepper. Place in fridge to chill.

Once the zucchini is done, take the pan out of the oven and push the chips to one side. Add toppings and place back into the oven for five minutes.

Remove and plate with guacamole.

Enjoy as a side dish or main course!

Pure Barre Platform Preview!

If you like Pure Barre…or just fun in general…you’re going to LOVE the new Pure Barre Platform class.

I had the opportunity to test it out at the Hollywood studio with Pure Barre Senior Master Trainer Shalisa (@shalisa_p) last week and not only had an epic workout but also had such a blast.

IMG_2033

The new platform is about one square foot around and six inches or so off the ground but it completely transforms the exercises, allowing you to have a much greater range of movement. The workout is still low impact but tiny pulses are replaced by quick bursts of high intensity movement. This leads to an increased heart rate and a lot more cardio than your average barre class.
