Although The Sweat Shoppe got off ClassPass a while ago, it’s one of the few studios that I still see pop up on my Instagram feed. Yep, people love this place so much that they’re willing to pay out of pocket to get sweaty here. Obviously I had to find out for myself what the hype is about.

SoulCycle x Target Pop Up

In partnership with Target, SoulCycle has been bringing its heart pumping classes to the masses—for free. For the last month, these classes have been literally popping up in ten cities all over the US, including Miami, DC, Seattle, Nashville, Minneapolis, Chicago, and of course, LA.

For three days, Soul Cycle bikes take over a super cool space in each city, offering local residents a shot at spinning with the best!

The pop-ups also allow riders a special chance to shop the exclusive SoulCycle + Target collaboration that includes a sweatshirt + sweatpants and a tank with the famous Soul wheel logo. There’s also a variety of the C9 by Champion gear—Target’s line of active wear—well, more like athleisure with how cute it is.

I had the opportunity to check out a class this past Saturday in the penthouse of the downtown AT&T Center that offers incredible views of LA. The experience was exactly what I would expect of both brands—seamless check in, great swag, and countless insta-worthy photo ops.

For 45-minutes we tapped it back and spun like crazy—per SoulCycle fashion—to awesome beats with an even better view. It threw me off a bit to spin in broad daylight because I love being able to close my eyes and really get into the moment, but the energy in the room and from the instructor made up for it.

On the way out, we were given a swag bag with a Suja juice, KIND bar, and coupon for $5 off some c9 gear!

Thank you to SoulCycle and Target for an incredible event and for choosing such a picture-perfect spot to sweat!

Over the past several months, my life has been more and more focused on running with Nike Run Club. My times have progressively gotten better along with my health and overall happiness. While others have encouraged marathon training, my mom keeps reminding me, “You can swim, you can run, you just need to bike better. Why not try a triathlon?”

I’m always on the hunt for crazy fitness adventures. When I heard about Cry Baby House, a triathlon and endurance-training center, the wheels of my brain started turning! Nestled in the heart of Venice, CBH hosts road bike classes that can’t hold a candle to spinning. Don’t believe me? Keep reading.

It took me a while to jump on the band wagon and give Cycle House a shot, but ever since I did (and it’s been a year now), I’ve become an addict. I frequent Aaron’s 5:30 class because his energy is almost as crazy as how absolutely friendly and approachable he is. Since the new year has started, I’ve noticed these classes selling out on ClassPass which is why I decided to check out the brand new 30 minute express ride. “No weights. No breaks.”

Another Year Down

This weekend I celebrated my birthday, not to be confused with my blog-anniversary that I celebrated in October. Birthdays are always a time of reflection and mine falls right before the new year, making it the most ideal time to look back at what I have accomplished (or still need to) and figure out what I want for myself in the upcoming year.

IMG_9126

Since being in Los Angeles for about 18 months, a lot has happened. I’ve started this blog as an outlet for my fitness obsession, gotten engaged and married, and made new friends (thankfully so many that share my love for working out).

To ring in year 27, I decided to throw the sweatiest birthday party I could think of, so naturally, a spin class was my first choice. SoloCicla, the gorgeous new studio in Studio City was the ideal location. Not only is it easy to get to (right off of the 101), but also there’s a plethora of free parking, free shoes, and free alkaline water!

To be honest, after living in Los Angeles for a little over a year I have probably ventured downtown only a handful of times. While I adore the high-rise buildings that make me truly feel like I’m in a city, it’s the parking and traffic that really get to me. I’ve wanted to try a class at Bespoke for a while but the location was just a little daunting until I woke up on Sunday and realized that downtown is only 14 minutes away on a weekend morning. Seriously, I didn’t think downtown was ever that close! I immediately signed up on ClassPass and took advantage of the first class rate to sign my husband up too and we were on our way! Ever since my coworker saw Kendra Wilkinson (she’s 90% sure it was her) leaving Blazing Saddles, I knew I had to check it out, and hopefully spot a celeb myself. When I logged onto ClassPass and saw that the studio had finally been added I booked a bike right away! Continue reading
