I started working out here because I found a Groupon for a price that you cannot beat—10 classes for $49, but I got hooked pretty quickly. This studio is also a mile from my apartment and that doesn’t hurt, especially during rush hour (aka all the time).

I’ve walked by this studio many times during coffee breaks at work. Located right next to Pure Barre, Sandbox Fitness opened up at the end of June and has been piquing my interest ever since. Looking in from the street, you can see a giant box of sand with surfboards on top and TRX bands hanging from above. Knowing how difficult any workout is when you add the element of unsteadiness, I had to try this out.

Let’s be real: since pole-dancing studios started popping up, we’ve all wanted to take a class but found them a bit intimidating. When my friend asked me to hit up a beginners class at BeSpun with her, I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

My legs were still on fire from Core Fusion as I sifted through the Class Pass options for the next day. The classes that usually catch my eye (barre, spin, boot camp) were feeling a bit too intense for my fragile limbs. I needed something different. When I came across the word “aerial” I knew this could be the most Instagramable workout of the month, and immediately clicked reserve.

How to Sweat like a Pro

I’ve gotten some amazing feedback in the last couple of days that Sweat and Repeat is inspiring people to go outside of their comfort zone and try something new with their workout (check back for my aerial fitness review on Monday, THAT was something new).

If you haven’t worked out or been to a group class in a while, it can be a little intimidating. Here are the DOs and DON’Ts that will make you look like a regular!

When I saw the words Barre+Cardio, I knew Exhale Spa was speaking my language. As I’ve mentioned, I love me some good barre, but I hate feeling like I need to find time to do cardio to make up for 60 minutes of ballet inspired strength training. This class, my friends, was the best of both worlds.

I’ve been so barre obsessed recently that when I stumbled upon the words “first class free” at Flywheel I immediately starting planning my schedule around FlyBarre. Then I realized that I’ve been living a relatively cardio free life recently, and that’s not good for anyone, so I put my big girl panties on and signed up for the 6:30 Flywheel. This was a big step because spin has always been one of my biggest fears. It’s full of die-hards with their own clip on shoes and butt-padded shorts. These things intimidate me.

Fueling the Fire

I am currently writing and editing my Flywheel review but I just HAD to share my excitement with you. I got an email this morning from Class Pass that if I sign up TODAY I get one month ($99 value) for free. I live for these gimmicks! Especially because I was planning to sign up for Class Pass in the next two weeks after all of my Groupons are up.

Just looking at the Class Pass schedule for this evening made my heart skip a beat. I immediately noticed a Barre + Cardio class at Exhale Spa tonight and reserved it. I’ve been dying to check out this studio but at the steep price of $25 per class I just couldn’t justify it.

For those who live under a rock, Class Pass membership is $99/month and lets you try out an unlimited number of fitness classes (3 per studio) around the city. For a girl who loves deals almost more than I love fitness classes, this is like striking gold!
