Los Angeles truly does have the most unique workouts—something that I appreciate more every time I exercise in another city. From machines that simulate climbing to vibrating plates, they sure do know how to keep it interesting around here.

This studio played hard to get for a while. The longer they stayed off of ClassPass, the more eager I became to try it. I thought about shelling out the money for a single class, but when push came to shove, I waited it out. Finally, my prayers were answered! As much as I wanted to check it out, it wasn’t until this weekend that I finally made the drive to Beverly Hills for a class.

As you can probably guess, I’m running low on new studios in my neighborhood so every once in a while I love to venture west and seek out a new place to sweat a bit closer to the ocean. I love when I hit the jackpot and this time I did!

Location, Location, Location. If you look on the ClassPass map, until recently, there’s been a pretty big gap in between West LA and West Hollywood. Slowly but surely, Beverly Hills studios have been opening their doors for CPers! Oak Fitness Club is one of those new additions to the roster. I googled the night before to check it out and was pleasantly surprised to see the club was located inside of the UTA plaza (tenants include such companies as the United Talent Agency and Playboy). I was a little worried if I would fit in or stand out, realizing that I was headed into a more business professional setting. I decided to stand out with my purple pants and neon pink Nike trainers because, why not? Continue reading

I consider myself an LA fitness connoisseur so when I was taking a class at Strong Body Pilates I was shocked to hear about a studio where all classes are done on a spring floor. Count me IN. Better yet, first class is free. Obviously, I signed up immediately. Continue reading

Every Sunday when I’m looking for a class that’s going to rejuvenate me for the week to come, I stumble upon this hypnosis class. I don’t know about you, but the only experience I have with hypnosis is when the prom court got hypnotized for one of the spirit days. I remember some having to sit down because it wasn’t working and others dancing around per the instruction of the hypnotist. It kind of freaked me out but I’m all about trying everything once (that’s a lie…I’ve never tried mayonnaise). Continue reading

To someone who frequents barre and pilates classes, CrossFit is definitely one of the more daunting workouts. Graceful pliés are replaced by grunts as CrossFitters try to break personal lifting records. I decided to suck it up and try it out. Continue reading

I hate looking awkward during a workout and boxing never fails to give me an uneasy feeling. At the Nike event a couple weeks ago (one of the best nights of my life, seriously), I was put into the class run by Prevail. Two days later, I dabbled in some uppercuts with my Fitspot trainer, James. I was feeling more confident about my technique so I signed up for Box & Tone. Continue reading

I recently read a few articles proposing that boxing is going to become the next ‘it’ workout. It’s not exactly fresh but the ever-dependable boxing workout is making a trendy comeback. Apparently in New York City there are boxing gyms that are bringing the same amount of glamour that SoulCycle brought to spinning (think white everything, spacious bathrooms, amazing amenities). Models like Gigi Hadid claim that boxing is how they achieve their sexy, strong arms and toned physique. So I decided to take a hit (I’m sorry, I mean hint) and try out this old but new craze!
