I’ve come to love treadmill classes; in fact, I wish we had New York City’s “Mile High Run Club” in Los Angeles. It’s not always convenient for me to get to “Barry’s Bootcamp” so I was stoked to try this Santa Monica staple. Circuit Works promises to be a mix of treadmill cardio intervals, strength training, and stretching.

Sip and Repeat

I love a good sweat (almost) as much as Rachael, but my workout rarely varies — I go to bar method 4-5 times a week, and occasionally a jog that ends with chocolate. While my workouts don’t always have the diversity we should all strive for, my smoothie game definitely does. I exercise to eat, people!

I love having a smoothie before or after a hard workout because I can pack in a ton of nutrient-rich food and still feel like I’m treating myself. If I’m working out later in the day, I reach for a pre-workout smoothie for the energy I need without the heavy stomach feeling. All my smoothies are dairy-free, because that helps me avoid an upset stomach, but that is a personal preference – though I will say, almond milk is delicious! Here are some of my favorites. C9 Champion Yoga Event at Shutters on the Beach

Oh my gosh, what a great weekend to be an LA resident—and a fitness blogger! This morning I had the opportunity to attend a yoga event with celeb instructor Kristin McGee sponsored by Target’s athletic wear line, C9 Champion. The event was held at the gorgeous Santa Monica hotel, Shutters on the Beach (which was also a top contender for my wedding venue, until the east coast won out), and we were all sent C9 gear beforehand to wear!

Once I arrived and grabbed some coffee in the lobby, I headed down to the Promenade room to find bright yoga mats and equally bright workout gear. The morning started with a 45-minute class where Kristen led us through a series of sun salutations, warrior poses, and some mat Pilate’s moves. Afterwards, we were free to help ourselves to smoothies, granola, and exercise clothes (every girl’s DREAM). There were also masseuses available for 15 minute massages—perfect after a workout but before heading to actual work. Of course, my friend and I had to sneak away for pictures with some of my new gear by the beach!

As seen on the ClassPass Blog: It Can Be Done! How I Became a Morning Class Taker

Tonight I will take my 40th class through ClassPass, and I am just as excited as I was for the first! With the help of ClassPass, I challenged myself to a week of morning workouts. Read about my experiences on the ClassPass blog, also seen below:

It Can Be Done! How I Became a Morning Class Taker

“If there is anything that I dread the most, it’s my alarm! I’m so not a morning person – I typically get up at 8:30 a.m., and I’m out the door just 20 minutes later. I shower at night and eat my breakfast on the go just so I don’t have to sacrifice any sleep.

But I always envied those fitness enthusiasts who were finished with their daily workout before they made it to the office. I thought, how awesome would it be to have the rest of the day to yourself?! So, with the help of ClassPass, I challenged myself to a week of morning workouts.

How to Sweat like a Pro

I’ve gotten some amazing feedback in the last couple of days that Sweat and Repeat is inspiring people to go outside of their comfort zone and try something new with their workout (check back for my aerial fitness review on Monday, THAT was something new).

If you haven’t worked out or been to a group class in a while, it can be a little intimidating. Here are the DOs and DON’Ts that will make you look like a regular!

Fueling the Fire

I am currently writing and editing my Flywheel review but I just HAD to share my excitement with you. I got an email this morning from Class Pass that if I sign up TODAY I get one month ($99 value) for free. I live for these gimmicks! Especially because I was planning to sign up for Class Pass in the next two weeks after all of my Groupons are up.

Just looking at the Class Pass schedule for this evening made my heart skip a beat. I immediately noticed a Barre + Cardio class at Exhale Spa tonight and reserved it. I’ve been dying to check out this studio but at the steep price of $25 per class I just couldn’t justify it.

For those who live under a rock, Class Pass membership is $99/month and lets you try out an unlimited number of fitness classes (3 per studio) around the city. For a girl who loves deals almost more than I love fitness classes, this is like striking gold!

The First Sweat

I want to say that this obsession was all my idea, but it wasn’t. It started with a jet-lagged conversation between two girlfriends over brunch.

Her: “I think I’m going to head to the gym to counteract this greasy breakfast sandwich.”

Me: “Really? I’m headed right to the couch. How do you get the energy to workout so easily?”

Her: “I just put my clothes on and do it.”

And as simple as those words were, they changed my life. I went from working out 2x a week to basically living at the gym. Almost immediately, I noticed changes in my body that made me feel better than ever before.

Six months and one move later, my scenery shifted from BBQ capital of the world to sunny Los Angeles, where motivation to stay fit is highlighted by every Lululemon clad girl holding a fresh-pressed, organic juice. After a brief stint with a rude personal trainer, I found myself finally taking the advice of my best friend and signed up for my first Pure Barre class, courtesy of a Groupon. I walked in that day and never looked back. I am officially hooked on trendy fitness studios.

After scouring the internet for tips and reviews, I couldn’t find any LA based fitness bloggers that offered all the information I needed.

Enter: Sweat and Repeat.

This blog is a way for me to share all of my experiences and tricks with fellow Angelenos who are trying to mix up their routines, maintain healthy lifestyles, make some new friends, and get stronger and more confident along the way–without burning a hole in their wallets.
