There’s a brand new studio in the heart of Hollywood that happens to be literally across the street from my apartment. It doesn’t get any better than that! Oh wait, it does… Not only do they offer classes like barre, TRX, and hot yoga, they also have amazing amenities that encourage studio go-ers to stay forever.

Although I walked over, there is a parking garage in the Avenue apartment building where the studio is located. At the time I went, parking was free, but they will soon start validating 90 minutes for $2, just make sure to park in “retail” spots. I headed in and was immediately impressed with the gorgeous lobby that offers a variety of clothing and yoga accessories for purchase. I filled out the waiver and locked my belongings in the digital lockers. For classes in the heated rooms, I recommend bringing a yoga mat and yoga towel but you can also rent from the studio.

The Barefoot Bootcamp class is done in the largest of the three studio rooms. This class is a blend of yoga, Pilates, and kettlebells (we used two—a lighter and a heavier bell). For 60-minutes we went nonstop, basically dancing our way through a variety of exercises like planks, push ups, kettle bell swings, and high-knees. It was a mixture of cardio and strength with energetic music and many moves I had never seen before. The music was on the louder side and the instructor didn’t have a microphone so I had to use my eyes to figure out what we were doing. I was thankful when it was time for the stretch at the end!

Cool off with some of the kombucha or cold brew on tap! If you need a specialty coffee or a quick bite to eat, Tiago is right across the street. You can find my favorite smoothie place in the neighborhood, Open Source Organics, two blocks away on La Brea and Sunset.
Tricks of the Trade
- If you lock yourself out of the locker (it happened to two people while I was there!) you have to do ten pushups to be let back in!
- Take a selfie in the studio and get a free kombucha. The ginger one was delicious.
- If you’re on ClassPass and you buy the $80/month membership, you’ll get two free months after a year.
- As with all heated classes, I recommend bringing an insulated water bottle (like S’well) to make sure that you have a way to cool down during the workout. Drinking hot water is not very refreshing!
