I’ve felt a lot more like a wedding blogger than a fitness blogger for the past couple of weeks, but there is no more exciting time in my life than getting married and I just had to share my joy! After months of planning and perfecting, the day has quickly come and gone–and I am forever thankful for the memories and pictures!
My amazing wedding photographer, Katelyn James, knows how hard it is for a girl to wait for her pics and sent a giant preview of ours to me within days. I don’t want to admit how much time I spent in Maui trying to mentally relive my day instead of frolicking in the ocean with my new hubby. Since these moments are so special to me, I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures with my blog readers! Enjoy, xo
The day started bright and early at 7:45 AM when Tara from Makeovers on Call arrived at the Hilton McLean to get us all wedding-ready! We spent the day chatting, gossiping, freaking out, and toasting with champagne before jumping in the limo and heading over to Congressional Country Club for the ceremony and reception!
It’s all about the details ❤
I honestly still cannot get over how spectacular these flowers are! A dream come true!! The orchids were to die for and my dad even had the out-of-season peonies stored away in refrigeration for a few months to stay fresh for the bouquets!
Before the ceremony began, Evan and I, along with two witnesses and the Rabbi, signed the Kettubah, a Jewish marriage license. Technically speaking, that’s when we became husband and wife! But don’t worry, we still wed in front of our 200 guests.
We had the best wedding party! The boys looked so dapper in their tuxes and the girls rocked the long navy gowns even in the heat.
After the ceremony, Evan and I snuck away for newlywed pictures. It was exhausting and we missed all of our amazing appetizers which was a bit unfortunate considering we had quite the killer spread (sushi, sliders, falafel, fruit, pigs in a blanket…the list goes on). But it’s worth it now that we have some stunning pictures of the two of us.
Then it was time for the party to start!! The first time being introduced as Dr. & Mrs. was the happiest moment of my life. It was incredible to see so many family and friends clapping and cheering, knowing that they were there to celebrate our love. With Big Ray and the Kool Kats entertaining, the dance floor was packed all night. We started the party off by flaunting our month of dance lessons to “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green!
Can you spot the silly shoes below? My dad’s side of the family is Dutch and my aunt presented us each a pair of wooden shoe style slippers! Perfect timing because I had already ditched my 4 inch heels.
It was MAGICAL! I cannot thank our parents enough for giving us the weekend of our dreams and our friends and family for dancing the night away with us! If you want to check out more, you can find our photographer’s fav wedding pics here and our engagement session blog post here. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be looking at these images for the rest of my life.
SO FUN!
